Folk-rock band Scullion will be performing at An Taibhdhearc this Saturday evening, April 16, the first of a series of concerts to be held at the popular venue.
Iarla Ó Lionáird and Steve Cooney will be on stage on Saturday, April 23 at 8 p.m. and Rónán Ó Snodaigh and Myles O’Reilly will be on stage on Saturday, May 14 at 8 p.m.
This is part of a series of musical events organized by the Fíbín Theater Company, which has taken up residence in the Irish-speaking municipal theatre.
Fíbín sa Taibhdhearc’s artistic director, Philip Doherty is in charge of creating the musical program and the shows are directed by former Sawdoctor Pearse Doherty, who has extensive experience in event management.
An Taibhdhearc has a strong musical tradition and has long been renowned as a concert venue, according to Philip.
International artists who have performed there include renowned musicians Daniel Lanois and Josh Ritter, while nearly every Irish musician on the scene has graced its stage.
Today, after several years of inactivity, the theater is operational again as a concert hall.
“The Taibhdhearc auditorium is beautiful and with only 140 seats, it’s an intimate room where musicians love to play,” said Philip Doherty. “Fíbín sa Taibhdhearc wanted to launch our musical program by featuring the best contemporary Irish bands; musicians who could perpetuate or advance the musical legacy of a Taibhdhearc.
