SXSW Horror Movie Finds Its Home In Shudder


Fresh out of Showtime’s “yellow vests” Christine Ricci will next be seen in the movie monster Monstrousand we learned that Screen Media has acquired the North American rights.

Deadline reported this afternoon: “Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment plans to release the film theatrically and on demand on May 13.”

Christina Ricci to headline horror film Monstrouswhich marks the return of The lost, all the cheerleaders die and I know who killed me director Chris Sivertson.

In the film, “Laura (Christina Ricci), traumatized by an abusive relationship, eventually runs away from her ex-husband with her seven-year-old son, Cody. But in their idyllic, remote new sanctuary, they discover they have another, bigger and more terrifying monster to face…a monster that will test their sanity at once.

Camp Hill (Police Academy, Clue, “The Twilight Zone”) co-stars.

“The brilliant, twist-filled Monstrous is exactly the kind of unforgettable thriller we can’t wait to release,” Screen Media said in a statement. “The film is made all the more special by the iconic charm of Christina Ricci in an intricate lead performance.”

“Screen Media excels at connecting hungry audiences with fresh and original genre films,” added Chris Sivertson. “I’m glad they’re releasing Monstrous over North America.

The first standing Monstrous will have its international premiere at the upcoming FrightFest in Glasgow where it will be screened this weekend, Saturday March 12.
