Walterstown-based founder and festival director Siún O Connor has announced the schedule of events for the upcoming Meath Film Festival, during its launch event at the Solstice Arts Centre, Navan. The festival will provide great opportunities for filmmakers to get involved, showcase their work and strengthen the county’s vibrant film community. The Meath Film Festival is due to take place on Saturday September 17 at Solstice.
The program will include film-related workshops throughout the day, an ‘In Conversation’ event with film and theater producer, Arthur Lappin, the screening of local and national short films with a Meath connection, screenings of 60 second films by young people under 18 and a screening of the festival’s feature film, the award-winning film ‘An Cailín Ciúin’, directed by Meath, followed by a Q&A session.
Meath Film Collective is now accepting short film submissions from local and national filmmakers. The films will be selected by a panel of industry professionals and the selected films will be screened during the festival. The Collective is looking for all kinds of short films (15 min max). Submissions are open to all genres and languages and may include (but are not limited to): documentaries, animation, experimental films and live action. The only requirement is that your film has a connection to Meath, be it cast, crew or location.
The Collective is also looking for more submissions for the 60 Second Film Challenge for those under 18. He would especially like to welcome submissions that are inspired by Irish mythology, places in Meath, inclusion or friendship, the future or the environment.
To request a digital entry form, email: firstname.lastname@example.org with the appropriate subject line – “MFF-SHORTFILM” or “60SECFILM”. You can also find the application forms on their social media. Submissions are free.
