Sports Mole presents Friday’s Premier League of Ireland clash between University College Dublin and Shelbourne, including predictions, team news and possible line-ups.
Two teams from the bottom half of the Ireland Premier table will meet on Friday as Dublin University College keeps trying to push himself to the bottom of the ladder as he hosts Shelbourne.
Due to a postponement, the visitors were left with a bye game last weekend and will now be looking to get straight back into action with a bang.
It’s been a tough campaign for University College Dublin, but in their last outing they were able to end their six-game losing streak.
Andrew MylerThe men picked up a rare victory, which was only their second of the entire campaign when they made the trip to Sligo Rovers, as they continue to fight for survival.
A goal in the first half of Donald Higgins was followed by one of Dara Kean in the 63rd minute, and after keeping a clean sheet at the other end of the field, three crucial points were won.
Now the team is heading home for its final game, but it’s in front of its own fans that it’s struggled the most, as the team hasn’t won a league UCD Bowl game this season.
Despite that, they are now level on points with Finn Harps sitting above them in the relegation playoff spot, which will give them plenty of hope ahead of Friday.
For the visitors, they are also aiming to move up the rankings, with Shelbourne currently sitting in seventh.
A winning streak could easily see them make a few moves, with just eight points separating them and fourth place which will be a draw for the club.
After their scheduled game against Shamrock Rovers was postponed last week, Shelbourne have not played since July 8, when they picked up a win over Finn Harps.
Gavin Molloy scored a brace in the first half, which was then followed by a goal later in the game from Jack Moylana result they hope to repeat this time around.
When the two sides met earlier in the season, it was Shelbourne who prevailed with a routine 2-0 win, which ended in goals either side of the break.

Shelbourne League of Ireland Premier form:
Sam Todd dropped out of the University College Dublin team for their previous game due to a red card, and given that they kept a clean sheet it is likely that Michael Gallagher will retain its place in the back four.
At the other end of the pitch, the hosts will still be without their top scorer Colm Whelan who is out at the moment with a cruciate ligament injury.
Shelbourne recently secured the signing of the former Norwich City right-winger Josh Giurgiand he will have the chance to make his debut for the club this week.
Daniel Hawkins and Sean McSweeney both failed Damien Dufthe newest squad through injury, but after a long break they could be potential options, while Mark Coyle is back to full fitness.
University College Dublin possible starting composition:

Possible starting line-up from Shelbourne:

We say: University College Dublin 1-1 Shelbourne
Shelbourne heads into this fixture as heavy favorites simply due to league positioning and the hosts’ poor home form throughout this season.
Still, with a win in their last outing, University College Dublin could be on the verge of another strong performance, potentially earning another point in the process.
