Mid-Ohio Multicultural Festival Returns Friday | News, Sports, Jobs

PARKERSBURG — After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the 2022 Mid-Ohio Multicultural Festival will be held Friday through Sunday at City Park, featuring a wide array of entertainment, food and other activities showcasing diverse cultures.

Admission is free to the festival, which will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The festival will include three days of music, dance, arts, food and a variety of vendors at City Park, with activities for all ages.

A children’s art workshop will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday inside the municipal park pavilion. Children under 6 must be accompanied by a parent.

The children’s center will offer free arts and crafts activities for children from different countries, international games and performances by artists up close. Art projects will include Guatemalan dolls and Edelweiss hats, multiracial paper dolls and flowerpot rattles and rhythm bracelets and Chinese paper fans.

The West Virginia Office of Energy will be exhibiting electric cars, and representatives from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) will be on hand to share information on electricity requirements for charging electric vehicles.

The Foam Garage will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday with admission $5 for three hours or $8 for all day.

The Parkersburg/Wood County Library Bookmobile will be at the festival from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Visitors can tour the 25-foot library on wheels, browse books, and get a library card.

Noon: Ugata (African drums)

1 p.m.: Tae Kwon Do (Martial Arts) by SHKang

1:30 p.m.: Pipes & Drums of St. Andrew

2 p.m.: Fairie May (Irish/Scottish musicians)

3 p.m.: Jensuya Belly Dance (Turkish belly dance)

4 p.m.: Henry Kitchen & Young Jazz with Matt James

5 p.m.: Kritya Ensemble (dance from the East Indies)

6 p.m.: Tom Carroll (Jazz)

7 p.m.: Sidewalk shows – Fire show

8:00 p.m.; Grupo Fuego (Latin)


Noon: interreligious prayer

12:30 p.m.: Kritya Ensemble (East Indian dance)

1:30 p.m.: Roxana Havaii (Persian dance)

1:45 p.m.: Steve Free (Native American singer)

2:45 p.m.: Roxana Havaii (Persian dance)

3 p.m.: BackPorch Alibi (American group)
