Liam Neeson film sells out to Netflix and global buyers, filming begins – Deadline


EXCLUSIVE: Netflix, French metropolitan and multi-territorial distributor Vertice are among the companies to have pre-purchased Liam Neeson’s thriller In the land of saints and sinnerswe can reveal.

Filming is currently underway in County Donegal, Ireland. As we first reported, Neeson (Taken) plays with Ciarán Hinds (Belfast) and Kerry Condon (Tthree billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri).

Colm Meaney (The banker), Jack Gleeson (Joffrey in The iron Throne), Desmond Eastwood (normal people), Sarah Greene (dreadful penny), Conor MacNeil (The fall), Seamus O’Hara (The iron Throne), Valentin Olukoga (Unforgettable) and Mark O’Regan (Blood).

The film, which reunites Neeson with The sniper director Robert Lorenz, is set in a remote Irish village, where a newly retired assassin finds himself embroiled in a deadly game of cat and mouse with a trio of vengeful terrorists. The screenplay was written by Mark Michael McNally and Terry Loane.

Bleiberg/Dimbort concluded pre-sales to Metropolitan Filmexport (French-speaking territories), Netflix (United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland), Madman (Australia and New Zealand), Vertice (Italy, Spain, Latin America, Portugal), Signature ( Germany, -Dutch-speaking territories, Canada), Mis Label (Scandinavia), Eagle Films (Middle East), Dutch Filmworks (Dutch-speaking Benelux), Scene & Sound (South Korea), Monolith Films [Eastern Europe (excluding CIS)] and United King Films (Israel).

The sales company will seek to finalize all other territories at the next Marché du Film. CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group co-represent national rights.

The producers are Markus Barmettler, Philip Lee, Bonnie Timmermann, Geraldine Hughes and Terry Loane (Prodigal Films Limited).
