Larry Bill Keckler died August 18 at Forest Ridge, Woodland Park Colorado. He was born to William and Mable (Leesley) Keckler in Fargo on June 20, 1946. He was baptized and confirmed at St Williams Church in Argusville ND. A graduate of Grandin high school, he learned to play the drums and sang successfully in competitions. After high school, he graduated from NDSU with a BS in medical technology. For the next chapter in his life, Larry moved to Colorado to pursue his love of the outdoors. He was active in many sports and enjoyed motorcycles, hiking, and backcountry camping. Later his interest turned to horses and he became an accomplished rider winning four separate National Championships in Competitive Trail Riding. He also received a certificate for completing the entire Colorado Trail on horseback. He and his wife Mary Ellen have spent many holidays in Ireland riding cross country at various equestrian centers
Larry retired from Penrose St Francis Health System after 34 years working in the laboratory’s medical microbiology department.
He is predeceased by his parents William and Mable Keckler. Grandmother Tressa Keckler
He is survived by his wife Mary Ellen Keckler, sister Ann Marie (Elwood) Huyke Bradenton FL and brother Tim (Julie) Keckler, Argusville ND.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Sept. 10 from noon to 2 p.m. at McGinty’s Irish Pub in Divide Colorado.
