Laois filmmaking on track at St Abban’s AC – Photo 1 of 17

It was the lights, the camera and the action on set while filming ‘Superhuman’ (Swandive Productions) at St. Abban’s Athletic Club Monavea, Crettyard, Co Laois this week.

It marked the shooting of a film made possible by the inaugural Laois Short Film Fellowship 2021 which was awarded to director Mícheál Fleming and producer Michael-David McKernan of Swandive Productions.

This scholarship supports and encourages filmmaking in the county and is funded by Creative Ireland Laois through the Creative Ireland program in partnership with Laois County Council.

This award aims to foster talent, creativity and cinematographic activity in Laois.

“We are looking for original and entertaining stories by talented filmmakers who, if selected, are to stage and shoot their project in County Laois,” the granting agencies state.

A grant of €10,000 will be awarded to a filmmaker to cover the production costs of a short fiction or documentary film lasting 10 to 12 minutes to be shot in Laois in 2022.
