KY actor with Down syndrome in new movie

Kentucky is second to none when it comes to thoroughbreds and bourbon, among other things. We exported the Kentucky Hot Brown, and yes, you are welcome. Although if it’s not made in Kentucky – some say if it’s not made at the Brown Hotell – it could be a pale imitation of the original.

And the list goes on and on.

Kentucky has ALSO exported powerful actors over the decades, including an Oscar-winning trio in Patricia Neal, George Clooney and Jennifer Lawrence. Maybe one day we will see David DeSanctis added to this list.

MEETING WITH DAVID DESANCTIS

He already has a credits page on IMDB, and one of them is an upcoming movie on the Lifetime Network called Color my world with love about the romance between two adults with Down syndrome.

In the film, he co-stars with fellow actor with Down syndrome Lily D. Moore as Brad and Kendall, two engaged young adults, sparking parental concerns about whether or not the pair are ready to embark on this huge lifestyle change.

It premieres Sunday, June 12 on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries at 8 p.m. and will be available after that, most likely, On Demand in case you miss it.

THIS IS NOT DAVID DESANCTIS’ FIRST RODEO

David DeSanctis’ filmography dates back eight years when he was cast in 2015 where hope grows as a grocery clerk who inspires a depressed baseball player whose career ended too soon due to personal issues.

You can find out more about David in this interview he gave seven years ago before the release of where hope grows.

THE CASTING PROCESS FOR THE LEAD ROLE OF DAVID DESANCTIS

Here’s how David was chosen for Where Hope Grows in 2014.

In his IMDB biography, we learn that David’s involvement in theatre, music, and broadcast journalism led him to organize local events to support people with Down syndrome. He still lives in Louisville with his parents and competes in the Special Olympics. And when a role for an actor with Down syndrome comes up, he’s ready to go if he needs to.

His ambition is obvious, so it won’t be surprising if we see more and more of David DeSanctis in the years to come… starting with Color my world with love June 12.

27 Kentucky Celebrities Who Aren’t Country Musicians

We could have a whole ANOTHER list of Kentucky country stars — and athletes, for that matter. But how many of THESE celebrities did you know were from the Bluegrass State?

Kentucky’s Oscar History

The Oscars are this Sunday. Here’s a list of Kentucky natives who have been nominated for acting awards, mixed in with movies that have their own Kentucky connections.
