Interested in visiting Ireland? Enter this pioneering Irish pub in Orchard and let yourself be carried away by magic to the Emerald Isle.
From its friendly Irish atmosphere to its authentic Irish cuisine and national drink, Guinness, this pub brings you the traditional Irish pub experience!
Oh my god it’s Guinness ($9-$10 for 250ml) ! You must not miss this frozen draft when visiting an Irish pub.
Guinness is an Irish stout, which means “dark beer”. Guinness has a unique flavor with a good balance between sweet and bitter tastes. It is said to contain less alcohol by volume, making it a healthier beer to drink.
Committed to providing an authentic experience, The Drunken Poet specially imports its Guinness direct from Dublin, Ireland. The team prides itself on its serving skills, as all bartenders must undergo countless hours of practice to perfect their craft.
This heating plate OL’ Skool Fish N’ Chip ($28) is generously sized. It’s a portion for 2 people if you are a light eater.
The fish is fresh and tasty. It is covered with a drunken beer batter that stays crispy for a long time. Some bites were a little too salty for my taste at first, but I added a few drops of vinegar to help neutralize the salty taste.
Traditional shepherd’s pie ($28) is an aromatic and savory dish of ground lamb, creamy homemade mashed potatoes, parmesan and spices. The rich and creamy shepherd’s pie goes very well with bread. The portion is generous too.
We had the Grilled Peaches Drizzled with Bourbon Caramel Sauce ($18) – grilled peaches infused with caramel served with vanilla ice cream. If you are a big fan of caramel like me, you must not miss this dessert. The sweetness is just nice, and I didn’t really need to add the extra caramel they gave.
About the drunken poet
The Drunken Poet has an intriguing story to tell – from the intimate old decor to the dark wood furniture, each element brings a timeless look filled with detailed history, making the experience more fulfilling than the average modern pub.
We visited the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon and it was not crowded. The atmosphere was great too. That said, during the respective sports seasons, you will be able to hear enthusiastic cheers as the pub broadcasts live sports ranging from Irish sports to football, F1 and more.
