By the time Kristopher Jones Wrapped up his visit to Notre Dame this summer, the 2024 Virginia elite linebacker knew he wanted to return.
“Just the environment,” the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder told Irish Sports Daily. “The coaching staff treated me well and I just wanted to get up to see.”
So the Mountain View High School star will be back for the Irish game against Clemson this weekend.
“I want to get a good look at the defense and how they play their middle linebackers,” he said.
“I just want to show how versatile I am and see how they move; if some linebackers are on the edge and still playing traditional middle, then see how they move.
Jones was able to see and learn a lot on his previous trip to South Bend, so the game and the atmosphere around it will be the focus of this visit.
Since the last trip, he has remained in regular contact with Irish defensive coordinator Al Golden and defensive graduate assistant James Laurinaitis.
“They’re just great people,” he said. “At the end of the day, they support me in what I do.”
He has already made several trips this fall and has one more planned later this month.
“I’ve been to (Virginia) Tech, UVA, Maryland, Michigan, Penn State and Florida so far,” he said. “I’m going to Ohio State to watch them play Michigan.”
He doesn’t have a timeline for a decision, but has an idea of what will be most important to him when he makes one.
“Just the program, if it suits me, if they have my major and stuff like that,” said Jones, who plans to major in kinesiology.
